Day off number one, we visited Sapporo, known for the Snow Festival. Slideshow created by Marissa.
Day off number two, we visited Otaru, which was known for its fish markets. We really didn't see any fish markets, more like fish stalls, and it was FREEZING, more so than on the snow. Guess walking around doesn't get your blood pumping. Slideshow created by Marissa.

The search for Anpanman kept our creative spirit alive during the trip. We (more so the girls, and more so Marissa) were fascinated by this red-bean-bun-headed cartoon character. Seems the japanese are also fascinated by this superhero as he appears in every type of toy you can think of. Perhaps this is the Hong Kong version of Hello Kitty!

What do you do when you see a hill? Any sort of bump, mound, molehill, rise, swell, anything, where you can't see the other side, we head straight towards. Who can get the best air, the best speed, the best trick, and of course, the best stack.

The Asahiyama Zoo is a 40min bus ride from the main city of Asahikawa. It was exciting to see animals you normally never see, but in the end you do feel sorry for them. You can gauge their moods, agitation (pacing around their cages), annoyance at asian ppl staring at them (the tiger farting out faeces from his butt, into the spectators, thank goodness a group of people were in front of me. Reminded me of the ping-pong girls in Thailand)

First time in Hotham, where the snow was absolutely eeky, crap, and just wet and icy. It was a terrible season for 2006, but we had fun regardless.
